If you are not sure what area you would like to work in, choose this option. Keep in mind that we are a group of small organizations that rely on our volunteers. To work with us, you should be flexible and willing to do what is needed, with an inquiring mind, a good sense of humor and an open heart, and a commitment to making your work meaningful for yourself and others.

For the openings below, you may work for one or more organizations, depending on the needs at the time. If you are especially interested in one or more of our organizations, be sure to say so on your application.


Administrative Assistant

Help an Executive Director for one of our organizations handle day to day operations. Office and basic computer skills required. You may help with class registration, promotion, or routine office tasks such as mailings. You may also help organize conferences or special events. (Organizations: Dharma College)


Business/School Administrator

Be the point person for the school’s business office and manage the business plan from the perspective of student enrollment. Create marketing and promotional materials using adobe suite, and maintain the school brochure and website (word press). Work on a team with the Directors, staff and faculty, and interact with students in a friendly and caring learning environment. A great opportunity to learn and grow in our all-volunteer Buddhist community. (Organization: Dharma College)


Copywriter

Help promote the mission of one or more of our organizations through working on different projects, including fundraising pieces, website posts, grants, films, and blog posts. You may be assigned work on promotional pieces, fundraising letters, website posts, film scripts, blog posts, etc. Good computer skills needed; familiarity with social media a plus. (Organizations that have an opening for this position: Tibetan Aid Project, Guna Foundation, Nyingma Trust, Dharma College, Mangalam Research Center, Center for Creative Inquiry)


Development Officer and Donor Support

Oversee gift campaigns, develop and cultivate major donors, contact new donors and maintain donor databases. (Organizations with this position open: Tibetan Aid Project, Nyingma Trust)


Documentary Film Editor

Work on documentaries for Guna Foundation; possibly assist with short videos for other organizations.


Event Coordinator

Support fundraising events by managing volunteers, soliciting auction items and services, and providing event publicity. (Organizations with this position open: Tibetan Aid Project, Nyingma Trust)


Grant Writer

Participation in the full range of activities required to research, prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundations and corporate sources. (Organizations with this position open: Tibetan Aid Project, Mangalam Research Center, Center for Creative Inquiry.)


Graphic Artist

Provide print and digital graphic support for events, advertising, newsletters, web graphics, class documents and brochures. (All organizations)


IT Support

Work with an offsite IT Support Team and Help Desk; troubleshoot hardware and software issues for individual users; keep our server up and running. (All organizations)


Maintenance

Work with building manager on routine and special maintenance for three elegant buildings in the heart of downtown Berkeley.


Research Associate

Conduct research related to Buddhist languages or texts or related to developments in consciousness studies, neuroscience, organizational change, education, etc; work with library database. For Mangalam Research Center, knowledge of one of more canonical languages or of French or German is helpful; opportunities for language study may be available. Social Media Coordinator

Design and support the social media presence for one or more organizations.


Textile Artisan

Sew prayer flags and similar textile products.


Vegetarian Cook

Plan and prepare meals: mainly a vegetarian buffet/lunch for about 15-25 volunteers six days a week, with support staff provided as needed; occasional special events. (Mangalam Centers)
